La course à la succession de Jean-Baptiste Mela en Alpine Elf Europa Cup est sur le point d’être lancée avec vingt-cinq pilotes présents pour le coup d’envoi de la saison. S’il est difficile de prédire la hiérarchie parmi les protagonistes, une chose est sure : les débats s’annoncent musclés dans toutes les catégories lors des Coupes de Pâques sur le Circuit Paul Armagnac de Nogaro (16-18 avril) !
Forte de son succès grandissant depuis sa renaissance en 2018, l’Alpine Elf Europa Cup a définitivement ancré sa place dans le paysage du sport automobile international en assurant pleinement son rôle de tremplin pour ses meilleurs espoirs. Dans la foulée de ses deux titres, Jean-Baptiste Mela fait aujourd’hui parler son talent au volant de l’Alpine A110 GT4 tandis que ses dauphins Ugo de Wilde et Lilou Wadoux évoluent désormais dans le monde de l’endurance.
Avec leur départ, l’Alpine Elf Europa Cup s’apprête à vivre l’une des campagnes les plus indécises de son histoire avec un plateau où toutes les cartes ont été redistribuées, au point qu’aucune surprise n’est à écarter !
QUI SUCCÈDERA À MELA ?
S’il est difficile de désigner un grand favori parmi les engagés à Nogaro, Simon Tirman (Autosport GP) et Edwin Traynard (Chazel Technologie Course) devraient logiquement figurer aux avant-postes puisqu’ils sont les seuls à s’être déjà imposés dans la discipline.
Les deux hommes souhaiteront confirmer leur potentiel d’entrée de jeu, mais ils retrouveront des adversaires redoutables, à l’instar de la Polonaise Gosia Rdest (Chazel Technologie Course), déterminée à franchir un cap pour sa troisième année en Alpine. Défaite de justesse l’an passé, l’équipe Herrero Racing voudra prendre sa revanche en frappant fort dès le premier rendez-vous. Pour y parvenir, elle misera notamment sur Thibaut Bossy, ancien vainqueur en Clio Cup, et Rodolphe Wallgren, de retour en Alpine Elf Europa Cup après avoir joué le titre en Championnat de France FFSA GT ces deux dernières années.
D’origine sénégalaise, Abdoulaye Diop (Autosport GP) espèrera aussi créer la surprise dès son passage en automobile en n’ayant que le classement général comme objectif, mais d’autres concurrents entendent bien lui voler la vedette.
DE NOUVEAUX ESPOIRS ?
Malgré leur statut, Simon Tirman et Edwin Traynard devront se méfier de leurs rivaux pleins d’ambitions chez les Juniors, et plus encore. Après avoir affiché de belles promesses, Louis Méric (Race Cars Consulting) et Lucas Frayssinet (Chazel Technologie Course) chercheront ainsi à s’imposer comme de véritables prétendants à la victoire.
En parallèle, Herrero Racing tentera de conserver sa couronne chez les Juniors en espérant retrouver avec Alexis Garcin et Adrien Le Floch, tous deux issus du karting, le même succès qu’avec Ugo de Wilde l’an passé. Très performant en essais, Tim Mérieux (Autosport GP) pourrait également faire sensation, même si Jules Gougeon (Race Cars Consulting), Margaux Verza (Patrick Roger Autosport GP) et Paul Cauhaupé (Patrick Roger Autosport GP) feront tout pour se mêler à la bataille.
Enfin, Code Racing Development fera ses grands débuts en Alpine Elf Europa Cup, quelques mois seulement après avoir mené l’Alpine A110 Rally à sa première victoire scratch en Championnat de France des Rallyes. L’unique structure à exploiter les trois déclinaisons de l’A110 en compétition fera reposer ses espoirs sur le polyvalent Romain Brun et Louis Maurice, déjà vu en TTE.
FIDÈLES AU RENDEZ-VOUS
Réunissant huit concurrents, la catégorie Gentleman constituera une véritable course dans la course. Détrôné par Stéphane Auriacombe l’an passé, Philippe Bourgois (Chazel Technologie Course) n’aura que la reconquête en tête. Sa mission s’annonce toutefois délicate puisqu’il retrouvera d’autres piliers de l’Alpine Elf Europa Cup en Marc Sevestre et Pierre Macchi, deux pilotes du Patrick Roger Autosport GP déjà présents lors de la renaissance de la discipline en 2018 !
Montés sur le podium dans cette classe l’an dernier, Anthony Fournier (Race Cars Consulting) et Laurent Richard (Herrero Racing) chercheront aussi à s’imposer tandis que Frédéric Roy et Jean-Paul Dominici, tous deux alignés par Chazel, voudront démontrer l’étendue de leurs progrès. Deux nouveaux venus issus du monde des tractions pourraient néanmoins bouleverser la donne en Denis Bernardi et Mickaël Carrée (T2CM), titré chez les Gentlemen en Clio Cup France en 2017 et 2020, tous deux pleins d’ambitions pour leurs débuts à Nogaro !
Lors de cette nouvelle campagne où ils se produiront aux côtés des plus grands championnats européens du GT, les concurrents batailleront également pour plus de 110 000 € de primes et dotations réparties équitablement sur toutes les épreuves du calendrier et dans toutes les catégories.
Prévues dimanche à 13h35 et lundi à 15h30, les deux premières courses de l’année seront diffusées et commentées en direct sur la chaîne YouTube et la page Facebook de l’Alpine Elf Europa Cup.

The race to succeed Jean-Baptiste Mela in the Alpine Elf Europa Cup is ready to be launched, with twenty-five drivers entered for round one of the 2022 season. Although it is difficult to predict the hierarchy among the contenders, one thing is sure: the battles will be fierce in all categories during the Easter Cup weekend at Nogaro (16-18 April)!
With its growing success since its revival in 2018, the Alpine Elf Europa Cup has definitively cemented its place in the international motorsport landscape by fully assuring its role as a springboard for its best hopefuls. In the wake of his two titles, Jean-Baptiste Mela is now showcasing his talent in the Alpine A110 GT4 while his former rivals Ugo de Wilde and Lilou Wadoux have moved on to endurance racing.
With their departure, the Alpine Elf Europa Cup is getting ready to experience one of the most disputed campaigns in its history with a field where everything has been re-established, so much so that no surprise can be ruled out!
WHO WILL FOLLOW MELA?
Although it is difficult to pick a favourite for Nogaro, Simon Tirman (Autosport GP) and Edwin Traynard (Chazel Technologie Course) should logically be at the sharp end of the field as they are the only past winners in the field.
The two men will look to confirm their potential from the outset, but they will face formidable challengers, such as Poland's Gosia Rdest (Chazel Technologie Course), determined to take a step forward in her third year in Alpine. The Herrero Racing team, which narrowly lost out last year, will be out for revenge by striking hard at the opening round. To achieve this, the team will count on former Clio Cup race winner Thibaut Bossy and Rodolphe Wallgren, back in the Alpine Elf Europa Cup after competing for the title in the French GT Championship in 2020 and 2021.
Hailing from Senegal, Abdoulaye Diop (Autosport GP) will also hope to spring a surprise in his first race weekend in cars, with only the general classification as his goal. However, many others are also keen to make a name for themselves…
NEW HOPEFULS?
Despite their experience, Simon Tirman and Edwin Traynard will have to be wary of their rivals aiming for Junior and overall glory. After showing great promise, Louis Méric (Race Cars Consulting) and Lucas Frayssinet (Chazel Technologie Course) will both look to establish themselves as genuine contenders for victory.
Meanwhile, Herrero Racing will try to hold onto its crown in the Juniors category, hoping to find with former kartmen Alexis Garcin and Adrien Le Floch the same success as with Ugo de Wilde last year. Tim Mérieux (Autosport GP), who showed great promise in pre-season testing, could also cause a stir while Jules Gougeon (Race Cars Consulting), Margaux Verza (Patrick Roger Autosport GP) and Paul Cauhaupé (Patrick Roger Autosport GP) will do their utmost to join the battle.
Lastly, Code Racing Development will debut in the Alpine Elf Europa Cup just a few months after leading the Alpine A110 Rally to its first overall win in the French Rally Championship. The only team to race all three versions of the A110 will rely on the versatile Romain Brun and Louis Maurice, who has been racing in TTE.
LOYAL GENTLEMEN
With eight drivers at Nogaro, the Gentleman category will be a proper race within the race. Defeated by Stéphane Auriacombe last year, Philippe Bourgois (Chazel Technologie Course) will have nothing but the reconquest in mind. However, his mission will be challenging as he will be up against other Alpine Elf Europa Cup stalwarts in Marc Sevestre and Pierre Macchi, two drivers from Patrick Roger Autosport GP, who have been competing in the category since its revival in 2018!
Anthony Fournier (Race Cars Consulting) and Laurent Richard (Herrero Racing), who finished on the podium in this class last year, will also aim to win while Frédéric Roy and Jean-Paul Dominici, both entered by Chazel, will be keen to demonstrate the extent of their improvement. Newcomers from the world of front-wheel-drive racing, Denis Bernardi and Mickaël Carrée (T2CM), Gentlemen category champion in Clio Cup France in 2017 and 2020, could nevertheless upset the hierarchy as both are full of ambitions for their debut at Nogaro!
During this new campaign where they will compete alongside some of Europe's top GT championships, the competitors will also battle for more than €110,000 in prize money and bonuses spread equally across all the rounds and in all categories.
Scheduled for Sunday at 1.35 pm and Monday at 3.30 pm, the first two races of the year will be streamed and commented live on the Alpine Elf Europa Cup YouTube channel and Facebook page.
